‘Oarsome’ Boundless Networks celebrates completing charity row

Matt Wiles • Jul 03, 2017
The time may not have been ‘ultrafast’ but there was still much to celebrate for a team from Boundless Networks when it completed a challenging charity row for St Gemma’s Hospice.

The team completed the St Gemma’s Hospice Windermere Row in two hours and 34 minutes raising funds for the Leeds-based charity that provides expert care and support for local people with terminal illnesses.

While the team of five novice rowers struggled for anything like ultrafast or superfast speeds in their boat on Lake Windermere, they all gave it their best, aiming to raise as much money as possible to allow this deserving charity to continue providing outstanding patient care.

The rowers from Boundless Networks, which is one of the first companies in the UK to test and deliver ultrafast wireless broadband in the most sparsely populated areas of North Yorkshire, took part in the challenging row on Sunday, July 2nd.

The Windermere Row took place July 1st – 2nd this year and is billed as one of the toughest but most enjoyable St Gemma’s Hospice challenges. The event has raised over £1.13 million since 1998. Teams of varying sizes and abilities take to the lake come rain or shine and race their way past the checkpoints and along either the 10 or 21-mile route to victory. Surrounded by the most beautiful setting, and with fancy dress and playful camaraderie strongly encouraged, this event has been attracting veteran captains and novice first mates to the lake for over 35 years.

The team from Boundless Networks was Director Simon, Engineer Mason O’Connor, Network Engineer Jack Preston, Engineer Tom Hayhurst and Business Account Manager Samuel Hayhurst.
